Rochester is located in southeastern Massachusetts, bordered by Lakeville and Middleboro on the north, Wareham and Marion on the east, Mattapoisett on the south and Acushnet and Freetown on the west. Rochester is about 19 miles northeast of New Bedford; 50 miles south of Boston; 49 miles east of Providence, Rhode Island; and 227 miles from New York City. (Maps)

The Town of Rochester is pleased to present to the residents and visitors alike, a mapping tool called MapGeo.

This tool enables the user to review any lot in the Town for informational purposes. This site allows the user to view the following attributes: assessor's parcel field card information, water features, topography, land conservation, resource protection areas, wetland location and more. The site offers a basemap and an aerial map (2011).

Lastly, the user can print maps with legends, scales and the information that has been selected.

Notes of Interest:

  • Tailings - FY 2015 - View the Town of Rochester's current list of Tailings.
    (Notice of names of persons appearing to be owners of checks issued by the Town of Rochester, which have not been cashed and are deemed abandoned. Checks must be claimed by December 31, 2015.)
  • Plymouth County Mosquito Control Project:
    To request that your property be sprayed for mosquitoes or inspected for breeding in standing water, call 781-585-5450 between the hours of 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM Monday through Friday. You can also Fax requests to 781-582-1276 (include name, address, and phone number). Further information can be found at
  • Committee Opening:
    The Town of Rochester currently has an opening on the Zoning Board of Appeals for an alternate member. Interested parties should submit letter to the Board of Selectmen.
  • Rochester Preliminary Tax Notice:
    Rochester's PRELIMINARY 2015 tax bills were mailed November 24, 2014. The first half payment is due December 29, 2014.

    If paying by personal online banking allow sufficient time for the bank to generate a check and mail it to the Town. Please supply sufficient information on the check identifying which bill should be credited.

    You will receive your actual fiscal year 2015 tax bill, based on January 2014 assessment, after the State Department of Revenue certifies the FY '15 Tax Rate. All payments of preliminary tax bills will be credited toward payment of your fiscal 2015 tax.

    If you have not received your tax bill in the mail please contact the Collector's Office at 508-763-3871, ext. 16 or 10. If you have questions regarding property values and abatements please contact the Assessor's office at 508-763-5250.

  • The Rochester Highway Department is offering compost bins. Compost bins are $40 each and have a ten-year warranty, an adjustable diameter (26 to 44 inches), height of 32 inches, and are self-aerating. Contact the Rochester Highway Department at 508-763-1991 to order a compost bin.
